Bridge Monitoring

Windsor Bridge Monitoring – Windsor bridge built in the late 1800’s, had strain gauges installed to monitor bending in the aging piers. Also, underwater strap on strain gauges were used to capture pier bending at the river bed. One off performance load testing and measurement of ambient traffic for 15 months was completed. Automatic data logging when a heavy truck crossed the bridge was used to capture dynamic events. The system was remotely monitored and data up loaded to a website twice weekly for the client to check.

The majority of strain gauges continued to work during two floods in 2012.
