Buried Water Pipe Monitoring

Provide Sydney Water & Monash University continuous strain, soil pressure, temperature, moisture and joint movement monitoring on a buried water pipe in Strathfield, NSW. The measurements form part of a study being completed by Monash University on the failure of cast iron water pipes.

In total 18 tri-axial strain gauges, 22 pressure transducers, 6 displacement sensors, 4 moisture content sensors and 6 temperature sensors were installed and monitored. Monitoring occurs at 30min intervals and at triggered events. A secure website provides the client access to ‘ftp’ accessible data and scatter plots summarising triggered event data and ambient data.
